Paint Selection
Different type of material has a different type of characteristic, usage and effect.
Powder Coating
It is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing with dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and then will be cured under heat. It is usually used to create a hard finishing that is tougher than conventional paint and it is mainly used for metals, such as household appliances, aluminum extrusion, automobile and bicycle parts.
Powder coating does not have a liquid carrier, it can produce thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings without causing paint running or sagging, thus it produces minimal appearance differences between horizontally coated surfaces and vertically coated surfaces.
Advantages of Powder Coating compare to other coatings:
-
Powder coatings emit near zero volatile organic compounds (VOC) which have significantly less impact on human and environmental health.
-
Powder coatings can produce much thicker coatings than conventional liquid coatings that will cause paint running or sagging.
-
Powder coated items generally have fewer appearance differences between horizontally coated surfaces and vertically coated surfaces than liquid coated items. In short, it has better finishing.
-
The wide range of its features made things easy to accomplished compares to other coatings that would be impossible to achieve.
Liquid Paint
Primer coating is a preparatory or base coating put on materials before applying the paint itself. The primed surface ensures better adhesion of the paint, thereby increasing the durability of the paint and providing improved protection for the painted surface. Suitable primers also may block and seal stains, or hide a color that is to be painted over.
Gloss finishing paint, solvent based paint, they are typically used for metal or wood surfaces that required gloss finishing effect and durable protection against moisture and fungus. They are normally available in high, medium and low gloss effect depending on each paint manufacturer production.
Matte finishing paints, come in smooth or rough finishing surface. The smooth matte finishing paint is almost like the flat finishing paint just without the glossy effect; the rough matte finishing paint surface is rougher than the smooth matte and it is almost like and papers but not as abrasive.
Two-tone finishing paint, typically used for wrought iron design metal works, painting the two tones finishing paint allow the welded pattern(curves, flowers, symbols) to stand-out from its based colour which is normally dark colour like black, dark brown, dark gold and etc.
